  • Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a gentle, holistic technique that focuses on the relationship between the sacrum (the triangular bone at the base of the spine) and the occiput (the base of the skull). Gentle adjustments and manipulations are typically performed using blocks or wedges placed under the patient's pelvis or head to provide support and assist in the correction.

The goal of SOT chiropractic is to optimise the function of the nervous system, improve spinal stability, and promote overall health and well-being. It is often used to treat a wide range of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, and various musculoskeletal disorders.

  • The Gonstead chiropractic technique involves a thorough analysis of the spine and precise adjustments to address spinal misalignments or subluxations. Using a variety of tools, a Gonstead Chiropractor can detect the presence of spinal dysfunction known as the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. The procedure comprises of six key components:

    1. Detailed Patient History
We’ll begin by taking a comprehensive history of your health (past injuries, surgeries, and current symptoms), which guides the examination and diagnosis process.

    2. Visualisation
Your chiropractor visually examines your posture and movement to identify any visible signs of spinal misalignment or asymmetry.

    3. Instrumentation
Use of specialised instruments (Nervoscope, or the Gonstead Radiographic Parallel Line Analysis) to measure and detect temperature differences or misalignments along the spine.

    4. Static Palpation
Feeling the spine and surrounding tissues, your chiropractor will search for areas of tenderness, swelling, muscle tension, or abnormal texture.

    5. Motion Palpation
Your chiropractor will assess how each spinal segment moves individually by applying gentle pressure and feeling for any restrictions or abnormal motion.

    6. X-ray Analysis
X-rays may be taken to provide a detailed view of the spine and help determine the exact location and nature of subluxations or misalignments.

  • The Diversified chiropractic technique is a manual, hands-on approach that combines assessment methods and manual adjustments to restore proper alignment and movement of the spine. A diversified adjustment is characterised by a high-velocity, low-amplitude thrust, in which your chiropractor delivers a quick, precise force with minimal amplitude or depth of movement. The goal is to create a specific change in the joint alignment without excessive force or discomfort to the patient.

The Diversified chiropractic technique is versatile and can be used to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain, and various other spinal and extremity problems.

  • The Activator chiropractic technique is a low-force approach to spinal adjustments. It utilises a handheld instrument called the Activator Adjusting Instrument, which produces a quick, gentle and precise thrust when applied to the body. The instrument delivers controlled impulses to specific areas of the spine or joints, to stimulate the joint and encourage proper alignment.

One of the advantages of the Activator technique is its ability to provide specific and localised adjustments without the need for manual thrusts or twisting movements. It allows for a more controlled and precise application of force, making it suitable for individuals who may be hesitant about traditional manual adjustments or require a more gentle approach due to factors such as age, sensitivity, or certain health conditions. It is also commonly used with infants, children, and older adults.

  • The drop piece chiropractic technique, also known as the Thompson technique, is a common method that involves the use of a specialized chiropractic table with sections that can be dropped or raised during the adjustment process.

The drop piece technique is known for its ability to address spinal misalignments efficiently and comfortably. The segmented table sections help improve the precision and effectiveness of the adjustment, allowing for a targeted release of tension and a restoration of proper spinal alignment.
